Two Distinct Species

There are two remaining wild chimpanzee species: the common chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) and the pygmy chimpanzee, or Bonobo (Pan paniscus). Common chimpanzees inhabit West, East, Central, and Southern Africa, while Bonobos reside exclusively in Congo’s jungles and sanctuaries.
